Second day rest from the gym today. Boy am I itching to getting back to crossfit.
So I did make it in on Saturday to do 14.1. Considering my bad back which made my lifts difficult and my ability to choke on double unders during WOD (and not during warm ups and practice, I managed to get 148 reps which isn’t the best but I’m still happy with this result.
I am taking it easy these games to see how far I’ve come and not be disillusioned by competition and my weaknesses during CFG 2012. This resulted in me quitting crossfit for a year but I missed it and now I’m back.
Today is my third day off from CrossFit and my lower back is still having pains when I bend over.
Our CrossFit gym is doing the open tomorrow. Not sure whether to try anyway (depending on the workout) or pull out completely…
I think I’ve done something to my lower back. The part to the right side of my spine has been sore for the past 2 days. I don’t feel it until I bend down or need to squat down to reach something.
I’ve been plagued with injuries for the part week. First, I landed on my right thumb incorrectly when doing burpees then during a team event, my left calf cramped/seized up and was forced out of the comp 2/3rds of the way through.
I have pulled myself out of doing any vigorous physical activity for next few days. I hope this doesn’t last :-)

My gym had an open day yesterday. Us regulars demonstrated the CrossFit Open 13.3 yesterday. Wall balls are the bane of my existence, mainly because I am short. I copped a few wall balls to the face and as you can see, I am a bit bruised and scabbed up today.
First day back at the gym after surgery. I did alright in the squat work out but failed to get through the metcon.
It was 3 rounds
15 thrusters 65#
8 bar hop burpees
3 minute cap each round with 3 minute rest in between
I got throughout the first round 2”26, second round I was feeling light headed, dropped the bar (almost smashed my jaw) but got through 3”03 (over time cap) but couldn’t stand to do the third even with the coaches encouraging me. Coach made me do 3 minute easy row. I was exhausted.
That’s what you get when you can’t fuel yourself properly due to removing wisdom teeth. Soup all day, every day. I can’t wait to eat proper food again!
I still have stitches in my mouth from surgery (TMI). I am still eating pureed/mushy/soft food and juices.
Post Whole 30 and since I’ve had the surgery, I’ve probably eaten more ice cream and yoghurt than usual. It sits well for a while then my body reacts to it when I have too much. Like today.
I cannot wait until I can finally eat a big hunk of steak. And veggies!
